The DPO Centre has joined with Exiger, the global authority on financial crime and fraud to provide the ultimate whitepaper for UK organisations on how to tackle ever-increasing complex data subjectAn individual who can be identified or is identifiable from data. access requests (DSARs).
Bringing together the expertise of these two leading companies in data protection compliance, the white paper looks at the challenges that can make responding to DSARs particularly difficult and offers practical help on how to tackle the issues.
The solutions to dealing with these challenges are two-fold. First, the procedures and practices that companies can embed within their data processing operations to make responding to complex DSARs more manageable. Second, the technology and tools that help to facilitate and gain efficiencies in these procedures.
The latest findings from The UK Data Protection Index, developed by The DPO Centre and Data Protection World Forum, reveal that companies are grappling with DSARS following a significant increase in requests. The results from the survey of UK data protection and privacy professionals indicates a rise from 20% of panel members saying they received upwards of 10 DSARs per month in July 2020, to 26% in March 2021.
With the cost, complexity and volume of DSARs expected to continue to increase, companies need to have the appropriate systems in place to ensure requests are dealt with efficiently. The white paper gives guidance on how diligent organisations can take action now to implement appropriate processes and procedures before risking being overwhelmed in the face of complex or multiple DSARs.
Lenitha Bishop, Head of DPOs at the DPO Centre commented “By embedding the correct procedures and having the appropriate tools, companies can greatly reduce the burden and risk of having to deal with DSARs, saving them both time and money.”
